The Gardens of Leighton Court

Several interesting views of the attractive Leighton Court gardens in 1918 have been sent to us by Ellen Barchet, the great-granddaughter of William Whineray, and reveal the beautiful landscaping of the grounds, and just how extensive they were.

Ellen, who lives in Washington D.C., is the granddaughter of the Whinerays’ daughter, Joyce Whineray Phillips, who moved to America after her marriage to Dr Charles Phillips in 1921.
